Vanderhoof Sale - Friday, Oct 8, 2021
Nearly 1,100 head of calves were sold at the Vanderhoof Pre-sort Calf sale on Friday. The calves sorted up well and they were presented through the ring in just over two hours. Angus X calves, Reds and Blks sold as follows: 38 s/c at 358 lb to 258.00, 66 s/c at 423 for 235.00, a full liner load of s/c at 487 lbs raced to 232.00, 102 s/c at 555 lbs saw 211.50 and 640 lb s/c were 203.00. The Angus X h/c at 341 lbs forced 198.00, the 415 lbs h/c to 190.25, 486 lb h/c were 190.00, 555 lb h/c stopped at 178.25 and 637 lb h/c marked 175.00. Exotic s/c at 416 lbs sailed to 245.00, 495 lb s/c were 226.50, 566 lb s/c saw 210.50, 637 lb s/c to 204.25 and 699 lb s/c all the way to 205.25. The Exotic h/c at 540 lbs commanded 177.00 and 638 lbs were also 177.00. Char X s/c at 567 lbs saw 215.00 with 644 lb s/c for 205.25 and the big 783 lb s/c topping 200.50. A sort of 496 lb Char X h/c reached 188.00. There were a limited number of slaughter cows on offer at the regular sale which immediately followed the calf sale. It took a very good cow to break 73.00 today. Thanks to the contributors and the buyers as well as a job well done by the staff and crew! Next Friday, already over 1,700 calves booked as well as yearlings, cows and bulls.
