Vanderhoof Sale - Friday, Dec 2, 2022



The last sale of the Fall season in Vanderhoof featured a liner load of steer calves on the video sale as well as 1520 head of cattle from nearly 100 contributors. In spite of winter conditions, the sale went smoothly. Little Valley Farms Ltd. sold a tridem load of Angus x s/c at 550 lbs via video sale and they marched to 270.75. Kevin Bailey had 612 lb s/c for 240.00 and big 715 lb h/c were 200.00. C4Ranching, with over 200 Angux x calves watched 573 lb s/c reach 257.75, the 500 lb s/c were 279.00 and 412 lb s/c saw 291.00, while the 324 lb s/c hit 310.00. The C4 h/c at 519 lbs raced to 227.00 and h/c that weighed 455 lbs hit 239.50 and 367 lb h/c were 242.00. Sawley Deep CreekRanch sold 548 lb Angus x s/c for 262.25 and the 487 lb s/c made it to 274.25. Carmella Farms had some of the biggest calves of the day, the Simm x s/c at 779 lbs made it to 221.75 and the 717 lb s/c were 223.00 they also had hfrs at 915 lbs reach 180.00. Grafton Quality Cattle Co. sold 486 lb s/c for 280.00 and some s/c that weighed 435 lbs were 290.00, h/c at 474 lbs saw 231.00 and the 408 lb h/c were 235.50. Floyd Jackson sold Gelbvieh x h/c at 416 lbs for 240.00. Fraser MacDonald had 723 lb s/c for 234.00 and 508 lb s/c that fetched 260.00, his 637 lb h/c caught 206.00 and the 538 lb h/c were 211.00. Greg and Jennifer MacDonald had some Blk h/c at 583 lbs mark 217.00. Gaylon McKee had Exotic x s/c that pressed the scales down at 676 lbs roll to 240.00 and the 586 lb s/c hit 255.25, while 662 lb h/c rose to 229.00 and the 575 lb h/c were all the way up to 241.00. Peebles Ranch was also in with over 200 Char x calves, and boy did they sell well! 652 lb s/c marked 243.75, 575 lb s/c to 265.00, 495 lb s/c made 285.00 and some 377 lb Car x s/c high marked at 320.00. On the h/c side, 575 lbs streaked to 241.00, 472 lbs were 242.50, 426 lb h/c were also 242.50 and some slaughter cows at 1621 lbs sold for 76.50. Rose Ranch had Tan s/c at 546 lbs for 264.00 and Tan h/c at 558 lbs reached 239.50. EthanSchalin sold s/c at 613 lbs for 240.00 and some s/c at 503 lb saw 258.00 and h/c at 470 lbs caught 232.00. Tatalrose Ranch tested the yearling market with 883 lb strs for 210.00 and hfrs at 941 lbs were 190.00 and hfrs at 821 lbs made it to 194.00, they also had a pair of bulls at 1808 lbs reach 94.00. Rita Steffey sold Angus x s/c at 648 lbs for 238.00, the 548 lb s/c reached 260.00 and some 475 lb s/c hit 277.00, her h/c at 562 lbs returned 217.00 and h/c at 502 lbs were 219.00. Peter and Paul Sturzenegger sold Red baldy s/c at 657 lbs for 230.00 and some s/c at 484 lbs caught 267, while a RWF bull at 2365 lbs sold for 94.00. Levi Walker sold solid 673 lb s/c for 240.50 and the centre sort of s/c at 583 lbs raced to 260.00 while the 517 lb s/c did not stop until 275.00. James Barr treated us to one of the biggest steers we have seen with a Tan str that pressed down the scales at 2560 lbs and returned 90.00. Brittany Davies topped the cow market with Simm x cows at 1623 lbs for 79.00. Jason Beier sold Simm x cows for 75.50. Marten andLinda Dykens had 1614 lb cows for 75.00, HRH Ranch Ventures had 1687 lb cows for 75.00 and Bill Martens also had 1520 lb cows for 75.00.
