An excellent start to 2018! We had 250 head of cattle in the ring today with another 500 head on the Electronic Auction, totalling 750 for the week. The Clifton Ranch started the year strong for us as they sold 183 strs, 900 lbs, racing up to 193.50. Their 140 hfrs, at 830 lbs, rolled to 180.00. Today here in Kamloops, Fred Bowers set a pace with just under 100 tremendous Hereford calves. Fred’s heavy end Red Angus / Hereford x s/c, 742 lb, raced to 190.00. His fancy pen of 665 lb Hereford s/c hit 200.00. 39 hd of big, strong, 626 lb, Hereford s/c saw 200.00. Yvonne Johnson had 620 lb blk Angus s/c race to 200.00 and her 478 lb s/c saw 223.00. Bob Thorpe was in with one top pen of Angus calves. His 643 lb blk Angus s/c saw 205.00, his 550 lb s/c reached 213.00 and his fancy pen of 608 lb h/c rolled up to 184.00. Hammett Farms from Kelowna had 535 lb s/c at 220.00. Dwayne Bently  from Celista had 725 lb Red Angus h/c sell to 176.00. Dan & Colleen Law had 1600 lb butcher cows trade to 82.75. Jamie Law’s 1430 lb cows notched 81.75. His 1325 lb cows saw 85.00. The Salle Ranch  brought in 1213 lb young cows that traded to 107.00. Fennell Ranches finished this fast sale off with a top set of calves. Their 546 lb Angus x h/c raced to 195.00. 9 head of their 473 lb h/c saw 204.00 and their 455 lb s/c hit 220.00. Just a reminder, there will be no sale here in Kamloops next Tuesday. January 23rd will have a bit heavier receipts with 500 hd expected to hit the ring.
