VANDERHOOF REGULAR SALE, FRIDAY, MAY 10th

 

They keep on coming! Strong feeders, ideal grass calves, pairs, butcher stock, we had lots of volume and lots of power in the market. Let's look at the high calibre Red strs from Walter and Susan Steidl (Punchaw),at 755 lb they marched to 187.75, 594 lb grass strs fetched 225.00 and 653 lb hfrs marked 186.50. Ian and Annie Van Metre (Burns Lk) had 766 lb Blk strs bring 190.25, 672 lb strs at 210.00. Martin and Linda Dykens (Houston) brought some massive 919 lb strs worth 167.00, 762 lb hfrs reached 180.00. Big Eddy Ranch (PG) in with 756 lb Red x strs at 186.50, 623 lb strs cracked 216.50, 531 lb strs climbed to 236.00. Olaf Halverson (Houston) saw his 868 lb strs force 166.00, 726 lb strs up to 180.50. HRH Ranch Ventures (Burns Lk) showcased 617 lb hfrs at 190.50, 548 lb hfrs reached 194.50. Pelican Lk Ranch (Batnuni Lk) had 579 lb hfrs bring 190.00. Gaylon McKee (Van) showed 570 lb strs that traded at 219.00 and 554 lb hfrs that raced to 191.50. Andy Meints (Houston) had 707 lb Red strs max out at 209.50, 724 lb hfrs strike 178.00, and 1626 lb cows hit 93.50! A.J. Forsyth (New Hazelton) had a pen of 732 lb hfrs bring 175.00, he also had top quality Angus X pairs sell up to $1900. A herd dispersal for Sharndons Farm (Fort St James) showed 23 cow/calf pairs as high as $1875. A couple hundred butcher stock rolled through and the buyers were ready. Carmella Farms (Van) with 1478 lb Blk cows at 92.50. CTN Ranch (Fort Fraser) had 1353 lb cows notch 90.00. David Dyck (Burns Lk) in with a 2060 lb Red bull worth 109.00. Tatalrose Ranch (Burns Lk) saw their 2035 lb Blk bull score 111.50. Hatch Creek Ranch (Topley) had a 2245 lb Blk bull top 112.00! Altogether we sold close to 1200hd and it made a great day of sale yard fun and cattle business. The crew did a great job despite the heat, the quality of the stock was outstanding, and we appreciate the efforts made to bring them in a timely fashion so we can do our part in preparing them for sale. Thank you to the buyers for keeping BC cattle at the top of the market. Our last regular sale for the spring is May 31st. June 8th is our Saddle Horse Sale at the fairgrounds. There will be a full weekend of events to go along with this horse sale, you won't want to miss it!
